THE ART KIDS
for The Hungry Caterpillar to multicultural masks and origami, there are numerous creative
activities offered at this site. Lessons are graded.
EARLY CHILDHOOD ART LESSONS:
Primary color mixing, square machine, foil and string art, picture puzzles, dough recipes, marble
painting, pipe cleaner sculpture, painting to music-- these are just a few of the excellent art
lessons offered here.

CRAYON SCRATCH LESSON:
Young art students have a great time
with this lesson, and they also learn
about using color and artistic mediums.

LEONARDO WORKSHOP--AN ART EDVENTURE:
At this site you can have your students create art,
study art, or play art games. Even more, there's a
special section for teaching art!

TEXTURE ABSTRACT:
Kinderart is a great source for art lessons for students ages 4 through 12, and this
particular lesson plan is no exception. Using glue, paint powder, and cornmeal (really!)
students will create their own lush abstracts, and understand texture.
ARTS AND CRAFTS STARTERS:
Recipes for playdough, peanut-butter playdough, silly putty, play slime,
salt clay, bubbles, paper airplanes.....the basic ingredients of good,
clean fun!
LESSON ON DRAWING PERSPECTIVE:
Upper elementary students are ready for more detailed art lessons than ordinary
painting and drawing. This site contains lessons on perspective, which should
motivate older students and increase their art skills.
MAKE AN ARTIST BOOK:
This site contains detailed lesson plans on how to create a book with directions for adding
pop-ups. Good suggestions as well as a means of integrating art and language arts.
CRAYOLA ART LESSONS:
Crayola has well over 50 lessons in elementary art
here, many in multiple subjects. Check it our for
some good ideas.
HOW TO READ A PAINTING:
Describe, analyze, interpret, and judge -- these are the four artistic elements
your students will learn in this lesson plan on How to Read a Painting. Using
these techniques will enable your students to approach art with a critical eye,
understanding both the principles of design and the elements of art at work.

GATEWAY TO ART HISTORY
This is a great find for art history or western civilization teachers!
Designed as an online supplement to the text book Gardner's Art Through
the Ages, this hotlist's links lead to all the major periods of art studied
in most western art history courses.
THEATRE HISTORY ON THE WEB
The University of Washington, School of Drama created this site to aid in online
research of theatre throughout the ages. Links under Cultural Sites/Theatre
Resources are very extensive; links are also grouped by historical period.

ART ROOM
Lots of guides for art activities. The site is designed around activity centers. There are seven
centers to choose from. art sparkers, artrageous thinking, art gallery, art demos, artifacts,
art library, and art links.
CHILDRENÕS MUSEUM ART WORKSHOP
From the childrenÕs museum in Indianapolis, an interactive website on ÒWhat is ArtÓ and then
some great Arts Workshops for kids: creating their own multimedia production with puppets, a
workshop on sculpture and make it at home.

From Community Learning Network, this site has has links to information about Art History.
Students and teachers will find curricular resources to help them learn more about art history. In
